North Queensland Neuropsychology Service is a private neuropsychology practice providing assessment and treatment services throughout central and north Queensland.
NQNS provides neuropsychological services for a broad spectrum of clients including children, adolescents, adults and older persons with known or suspected brain disorders.
NQNS receives referrals from an extensive referral base including medical doctors, medical specialists, third party insurers, as well as medico legal colleagues. Referrals are also received for NDIS purposes.
The purpose of assessments vary and include evaluation for dementia, IQ/ learning/ educational/ neurodevelopmental concerns, vocational input, monitoring of recovery post cerebral event, and decision-making capacity.
At NQNS we are skilled in the provision of neuropsychological assessments and provides a host of interventions including cognitive rehabilitation, adjustment counselling, brain health education, clinical supervision and Neurofeedback therapy.
NQNS also provide Chinese Medicine acupuncture services, specifically for neurological conditions and have a range of Chinese medicine and herbs available for purchase.
NQNS provides travel to regional and remote areas for the provision of neuropsychological services.
BASc (Hons), MSC (Clinic Neuropsychology)
Deidre completed her Masters degree in Clinical Neuropsychology at the University of Melbourne in 1996. She has also been granted practice endorsement in Clinical Neuropsychology with the Psychology Board of Australia, and is a full Member of the Specialist Division of Neuropsychology (DoN) with the British Psychological Society and a member of the International Neuropsychological Society. She has over 20 years of clinical experience and has worked locally and internationally and in both the public and private sectors. Deidre has a specialist interest in the area of rehabilitation and reintegration into the workplace. She has extensive experience in providing independent clinical assessments for large organisations, private and government based, who require specialist advice in relation to compensation claims and rehabilitation matters.
Deidre is an accredited Neurofeedback practitioner and approved supervisor with the Psychology Board of Australia.
BPsych (Hons), MPsych (Clin Neuro)
Whitney completed her Masters degree in clinical Neuropsychology at the University of Melbourne in 2016. She is currently completing her registrar program to gain endorsement in Clinical Neuropsychology with the Psychology Board of Australia. Whitney has experience working with adults in diagnostic and rehabilitation services. She has a strong background in research, working with children experiencing a range of neurodevelopmental and learning difficulties. Whitney is interested in expanding therapeutic services in neuropsychology, and passionate about helping clients understand their experiences by providing education about brain disorders and recovery, as well as health and wellbeing more generally.
Brooke is our friendly receptionist who is more than happy to help with all inquiries at NQNS. Brooke has an extensive background in Community Services with a focus on Youth and Children’s services and holds qualifications in Counselling and Art Therapy. Brooke is also a qualified Aromatherapist and Reiki Master with a special interest in essential oils, relaxation and mindfulness techniques.
